In the pouring late autumnal rain, 10,000 protestors yesterday descended on Westminster to campaign against the government’s new inheritance tax measures which, from 2026, will levy the tax on farms for the first time since 1992.
As the numbers illustrate, the government has angered a lot of people. Individuals like Jeremy Clarkson, flanked by MPs will likely steal the headlines but others present told Citywire New Model Adviser of a story that was about far more than paying a bit of extra tax. Many claim they simply couldn’t afford to do so and would be forced to sell.
