NEW DELHI: During the first two days of play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan had a hilarious opinion about how the Perth Test strip evolved during the first Test.
A haven for quicks, the Perth surface was covered in grass on the first day, and pacers from both teams were relishing the bounce and movement.

However, the turf’s look totally changed on the second day. The strip began to gradually develop cracks, which reduced the amount of movement from the surface.
Pathan quickly brought attention to the pitch’s change in tone and gave it a humorous twist.
“Itna jaldi to meri wife ka mood bhi change nahi hota jitni jaldi ye pitch badli hai,” Pathan wrote on X while commenting about the change in pitch.
Australia were bowled out for 104 runs in their first innings at lunch on Day 2 with captain Jasprit Bumrah taking 5/30, to help India secure a 46-run lead.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul became the first Indian opening pair to score 100 runs in Australia in Tests in the last 20 years.
