NEW DELHI: 13-year-old Indian batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi put on an explosive display during India’s Under-19 Asia Cupsemifinal against Sri Lanka in Sharjah. He smashed a magnificent 67 runs off 36 balls, guiding India to a seven-wicket victory and securing a place in the final.
Suryavanshi wasted no time, attacking the first ball of the second over from Sri Lanka’s Dulnith Sigera. He timed the length ball perfectly, launching it over the ropes for a massive six that sailed outside the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Sigera conceded 31 runs (6, 6, 4, Wd, 5, 0, 4, 6) as Suryavanshi hit three sixes in that over alone.
In total, Suryavanshi struck five sixes and six fours in his fiery 67-run knock from just 36 balls. He was adjudged Man of the Match for his spectacular knock.
