NEW DELHI: Former England captain Michael Vaughan provided Australian media a reality check after they accused star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja of not answering their questions in English.
Vaughan said that the Australian media unnecessarily created controversy and suggested that the issue could have been avoided if they had used Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to accurately transcribe the interview.
“India are a powerhouse. They clearly think cameras at the airport and filming families is a step too far. And this is their way of reacting. It just adds more drama for me. There are AI systems that you can use to translate Hindi into Australian English. So if they are not willing to speak in English.. Just put it into the system and it’ll come out as Australian English You just quote Jadeja in what comes in the AI. It might not be the exact same but it will be quite funny,” he said in the Club Prairie Fire Podcast.

The incident unfolded when approximately a dozen Indian journalists gathered at the MCG to interview Jadeja following his practice and gym session, an interaction arranged by the BCCI for the traveling media.
Despite not being invited or holding proper accreditation, some Australian media outlets showed up at the event but were still accommodated by the Indian cricket board’s media team.
All questions fired to Jadeja during the nearly 10-minute interaction were in Hindi and the all-rounder responded in the same language. The BCCI media manager continued to take questions and even lined up an Australian journalist but the team bus was about to leave and most Indian journalists, lined up, were not able to ask the question.

The handful of local journalists decided to lose their cool at BCCI media manager and even directed a cameraman, stationed in the stands, to continue recording the entire conversation.
