NEW DELHI: India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah may have ended on the losing side in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, but a heartwarming family moment stole the spotlight.
After his remarkable nine-wicket haul in the match, including 5 for 57 in the second innings, a picture of Bumrah’s son holding the match ball went viral, melting fans’ hearts across social media.

Despite India’s 184-run loss to Australia in the fourth Test, Bumrah’s performance was exceptional. His nine wickets in the match propelled him to 200 Test wickets, achieved in just 44 matches, making him the fastest Indian pacer to reach the milestone and joint-second overall with Ravindra Jadeja, behind Ravichandran Ashwin.
The feat also saw Bumrah create history as the only bowler to claim 200 or more Test wickets with a sub-20 average, cementing his status as one of the finest bowlers of his generation.

Bumrah’s impact in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been unparalleled, with 30 wickets to his name, the most by a visiting bowler in a single series on Australian soil since 1992.
His overall tally of 71 wickets in 2024 placed him far ahead as the year’s highest Test wicket-taker, with England’s Gus Atkinson a distant second at 52 scalps.
While these numbers underline Bumrah’s dominance on the field, the viral picture offered a glimpse of the man beyond the records – a proud father, sharing his joy with his family.
