India vs Pakistan Test match in Australia? Michael Vaughan has his say

NEW DELHI: Former England skipper Michael Vaughan on Saturday rooted for India vs Pakistan Test series in Australia, saying it will be ‘huge’ for the longest format of the game.
The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been a blockbuster Down Under, with a record number of fans marching into the stadiums to watch exhilarating cricket action between giants India and Australia.
While the Boxing day Test in Melbourne registered a record crowd over five days, the current Sydney game too has seen fans thronging the SCG for the final match of the series.
Vaughan admitted the fact that there is politics involved when it comes to India vs Pakistan matches but backed his appeal for a Test series saying that both teams do lock horns at ICC events.
“I would love to see India and Pakistan play Test match in Australia. They play each other in World Cups or in the Champions Trophy. I would love to see that contest in Test cricket. They can’t be playing in India. They can’t play in Pakistan. Play at a neutral venue. So, here in Australia or back home in the UK. There will be a huge amount of support for it,” Vaughan said while doing commentary for Fox Cricket.
“It will be great for Test cricket. I know there’s a lot of politics involved. It is beyond my pay grade but India vs Pakistan, here in Australia, playing here at the MCG, the SCG, the Adelaide Oval, it will be huge,” he added.
The last time two teams featured in a Test series was in 2007/08, when Pakistan visited India for three Tests and India won the series 1-0.
Since then, both teams haven’t played against each other in the longest format. However, in 2012, Pakistan did visit India for an ODI series which they won 2-1.
Amid political tensions, both teams rarely play, barring multi-nation events.
India and Pakistan last played each other in a T20I game at the World Cup in the Americas where India beat the arch-rivals.
