NEW DELHI: Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has solidified his position at the summit of the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings, maintaining his career-best rating of 908. Despite being sidelined from bowling in the second innings of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy finale due to a back spasm, Bumrah’s earlier efforts were enough to keep him ahead of Australia’s Pat Cummins, who climbed to No.2 following his five-wicket haul in the series decider.
Bumrah’s remarkable consistency has set a new benchmark for Indian bowlers, with his 908 rating points marking the highest-ever ICC ranking for an Indian bowler. His position at the top underscores India’s dominance in recent years, even as the team ceded the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia.

The ICC Rankings also witnessed a major leap for India’s Rishabh Pant, whose 33-ball 61 in the final Test propelled him to No.9 among Test batters. Ravindra Jadeja, meanwhile, retained his position as the world’s top-ranked all-rounder, despite sharing the ninth spot in the bowling rankings with Australia’s Scott Boland.

When India head coach Gautam Gambhir lost his cool in Australia

Boland’s stellar 10-wicket match-winning performance in Sydney marked one of the most significant ranking surges, as he soared 29 places to break into the top 10. His heroics were instrumental in Australia reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade.
