'A bit of theatre': Pat Cummins praises Virat Kohli for adding drama to rivalry

NEW DELHI: After his team’s victory in the final Test at Sydney, Australian skipper Pat Cummins praised Virat Kohli for his exceptional performances in Australia over the years.
He highlighted how much the team enjoyed playing against him, noting that Kohli’s presence not only brought vital runs but also added an element of “theatre” to the game, making him truly special.

“It’s always been a wonderful contest. Yeah, I think more than just the runs that he brings to the game, it’s always a bit about a theatre, which is sometimes good, sometimes it can roll you off as an opposition, which I’m sure is part of his plans,” Cummins said while addressing a press conference after the match.
“So it’s. We don’t get another chance, it’s going to be a shame. Boys really enjoyed playing with him. He’s been one of the star batters for the last decade or so. If you get his wicket, it goes a long way to winning a game. So it would be sad if it’s his last series. We have always enjoyed playing against him,” he added.

India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia after a decade, falling to the Aussies by six wickets in the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and losing the series 1-3.
Kohli had a tough BGT, with the exception of his century in Perth. He struggled with deliveries outside the off-stump, and Scott Boland proved to be his nemesis, dismissing him four times.
Kohli finished the series with just 190 runs in nine innings at an average of 23.75, including an unbeaten 100* in the first Test at Perth.
While his century at Optus Stadium ignited hopes of a resurgence, Kohli’s bat fell silent in the subsequent matches. He posted scores of 7, 11 (Adelaide), 3 (Brisbane), 36, 5 (Melbourne), and 17, 6 (Sydney).
