NEW DELHI: With 3/31, Mitchell Starc was the wrecker-in-chief for Australia in the first session of Day 1 of the pink-ball Test against India at the Adelaide Oval on Friday.
Starc dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first ball of the Test for a golden duck, becoming only the second bowler in the world, after West Indies’ left-arm pacer Pedro Collins, to take a wicket off the first ball of a Test match thrice.

Starc then got rid of KL Rahul (37) by having him caught by Nathan McSweeney at gully. This was the third time in as many innings n this series that Starc has dismissed Rahul.
In his next over, Starc got the prized wicket of Virat Kohli by having him caught by Steve Smith at second slip.
But one can’t stop the Indian fans from cheering and jeering at the opposition players and Starc was no exception.
While fielding at the boundary, like most fast bowlers do, Starc was teased and taunted by some Indian fans.
As is evident in the video that is viral on the internet, fans are teasing Starc about IPL and KKR.

In the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had acquired Starc for a whopping Rs 24.75 crore, which was a record at that time.
Starc has played 41 matches across three seasons in the IPL, taking 51 wickets with an average of 22.29 and an economy rate of 8.21.
KKR went on to win the 2024 IPL season, with Starc playing 14 matches, taking 17 wickets at an average of 26.12 and an economy rate of 10.61.
In the 2025 IPL auction in Jeddah on November 24, Starc was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 11.75 crore.
