NEW DELHI: Since 2020, KL Rahul has had the highest Test average among SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries, surpassing Indian heavyweights Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Rahul’s temperament has been something to consider, even though players like Virat, Rohit, and many other Indians have been tempted to play deceptive shots.

Under the tremendous pressure of keeping the scoreboard moving, the pair fell short when the circumstances called for runs. Rahul took it a step further and became the driving force after getting high.
Rahul assumed responsibility for scoring runs and exhausting the bowlers in spite of the opposition’s lack of support. On Day 3, he appeared completely unflappable and did not reveal anything to the lethal Australian pace express.
Rahul had a lucky break on Day 4 as he came out to bat, when Steve Smith dropped him on the first ball by captain Pat Cummins. The seasoned batsman took full advantage of the circumstance and proceeded to score another fifty runs in red-ball cricket.
Statistics support Rahul’s achievement as he continues to flourish abroad. He has outperformed Rohit, Virat, and the vivacious Rishabh Pant in SENA countries since 2020.
In more than ten innings since 2020, Rahul has averaged 41.1 in SENA countries, surpassing Virat’s 30.4, Pant’s 34.8, and Rohit’s 33.2.
Despite being batting legends, Rohit and Virat’s Test performance has suffered greatly in 2024. The drop in form of Rohit and Kohli is reflected in their first-inning batting averages for the 2024-2025 season.
Virat has averaged 9.12 in the first innings of the 2024-25 season, with his greatest score being 47, while Rohit has averaged 8.85, with his best score being 23.
Virat and Rohit have been aiming for form even in the present Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and India. However, of all the talented stars in the touring party’s squad, Rahul has appeared the most at ease.
Rahul maintained his poise while trying to tip the scales in India’s favor with a crucial 84-run knock, but the duo’s vulnerability ultimately prevailed.
