Former India hockey coach Jagbir Singh suffers heart attack

NEW DELHI: Former Indian hockey player and coach Jagbir Singh on Friday suffered heart attack in hospital after he was admitted following a chest congestion complain during team practice in Rourkela.
Jagbir, a two-time Olympian was with Team Gonasika in the Hockey India League when the unfortunate incident took place, that promptly his swift admission to the hospital.
Heart attack happened in hospital when he required CPR.
Jagbir is currently in ICU and his family is on its way to Rourkela.
Born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, to a Sikh family, the 59-year-old represented India in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
He also participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
His playing career for India spanned from 1985 to 1996.
During this time, he contributed to a bronze medal win at the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul. He also helped secure a silver medal at the 1990 Beijing Asian Games. Throughout his career, he earned 175 international caps.
Jagbir was a highly regarded forward during his time. He later transitioned to coaching, leading the Indian men’s team at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Since the 1990s, Jagbir has also been a well-known commentator in the sport.
