Harry Kane reached 50 Bundesliga goals in record time, achieving the feat in just 43 appearances. He accomplished this with a hat-trick during Bayern Munich‘s 3-0 victory over Augsburg on Friday.
Kane’s three goals, which included two penalties, extended Bayern’s lead at the top of the Bundesliga table. Bayern now holds an eight-point advantage over their rivals heading into the remaining matches of the 11th round.
“It was somehow typical Harry Kane,” Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said. “It was close in the first half, close, close, close, and then it happens, I think three goals in 15 minutes. Of course, he can do that. But for such a player, I have to say, he had a lot of chances that he could maybe make more of. Then, in an instant, everything is perfect and he can score many goals.”
Last season, Kane made a strong start to his Bayern career, scoring 36 goals in 32 league appearances after his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Bayern experienced an uncharacteristic season, finishing second to Bayer Leverkusen, who went undefeated to claim the Bundesliga title. This marked Bayern’s first time not winning the league since 2012.
Kane has maintained his scoring form this season, netting 14 goals in the Bundesliga, along with five goals in the Champions League and one in the German Cup.
