NEW DELHI: Big-hitting Tim David will be seen in RCB colours from next IPL season as the Bengaluru-based franchise made a steal deal for the slogger, buying him for a Rs 3 crore at the mega auction in Jeddah on Monday.
The Australian was with Mumbai Indians since 2022 but the franchise had released him ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
David was with MI at the price of Rs 8.25 crore but on the second day of the mega auction, the 29-year-old had to take a 63 percent pay cut.
David had come in at a base price of Rs 2 crore and and found his opening bid from RCB. Sunrisers joined him soon, pushing up the price.
With no other team showing interest, the fight for David was between two franchises.
RCB eventually outbid SRH to secure the services of David at Rs 3 crore.
Singapore-born Australian David has been known for his explosive batting skills in the shortest format.
The slogger has so far played 38 matches in the IPL and has accumulated 659 runs. David boasts an extraordinary strike rate 170.28 in the league.
For Australia, David has featured in 54 T20Is and 4 one-dayers.
