NEW DELHI: KL Rahul went to Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction on Sunday. He was part of the marquee list at the auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and had a base price of Rs. 2 crore.
KL Rahul had entered the IPL auction after not being retained by Lucknow Super Giants despite being their captain last season.
The 32-year-old is one of India’s premier cricketers and a standout performer in the T20 format.Known for his stylish batting and adaptability, Rahul has excelled in both international and domestic cricket, including a stellar IPL career.
Over 226 T20 matches, he has amassed 7,586 runs at an impressive average of 41.91 and a strike rate of 135.85. His record includes six centuries, 65 half-centuries, and 643 boundaries, showcasing his prowess as a dynamic player who can play at different slots.
In the IPL, Rahul has been a vital asset for multiple franchises, including the Lucknow Super Giants, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Across 132 IPL matches, he has scored 4,683 runs at an average of 45.47 and a strike rate of 134.61, including four centuries and 37 fifties. His highest IPL score of 132* came during the 2020 season, where he also emerged as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 670 runs at a phenomenal average of 55.83.
