NEW DELHI: England’s explosive top order batter Will Jacks, who made his presence felt with a blistering 41-ball century for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024, will now play for Mumbai Indians in the next season.
From his base price of Rs 2 crore, Jacks fetched a hefty Rs 5.25 crore bid from MI at the IPL 2025 auction, as RCB surprised everyone by choosing not to use their Right to Match (RTM) card.
The unexpected move by RCB caught many off guard, including MI owner Akash Ambani, who couldn’t hide his delight after successfully acquiring the talented all-rounder.
Chasing a formidable target of 201 against GT, Jacks delivered a scintillating performance, smashing 10 sixes and five fours to guide RCB to a commanding victory with four overs to spare.
His explosive innings included a stunning assault on Rashid Khan, taking 28 runs off a single over with four sixes. Jacks also forged an incredible unbeaten 166-run partnership with Virat Kohli, orchestrating one of the most unforgettable chases of the season.
