NEW DELHI: 29 runs in one over! Tamil Nadu opener N Jagadeesan lit up the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Thursday by smashing six consecutive fours in a single over during the Vijay Hazare Trophy pre-quarterfinal match against Rajasthan. The wicketkeeper-batter’s explosive innings gave Tamil Nadu a flying start in their chase of 268.
Facing Rajasthan pacer Aman Singh Shekhawat in the second over, Jagadeesan launched a stunning assault, scoring 29 runs, including a four off a wide.

After the over started with a boundary off a wide delivery, Jagadeesan smashed Shekhawat for six consecutive fours, showcasing his dominance. The blistering display set the tone for Tamil Nadu’s run chase, and Jagadeesan soon reached his half-century in 33 balls with the help of nine fours. The TN batter was eventually dismissed for 65 off 52 balls, which included 10 boundaries.

Earlier in the match, Tamil Nadu bowled Rajasthan out for 267 after captain R Sai Kishore won the toss and opted to field. Rajasthan’s innings was anchored by a superb second-wicket partnership of 160 runs between centurion Abhijeet Tomar (111 off 125 balls) and captain Mahipal Lomror (60 off 49 balls).
At 184/1 in the 32nd over, Rajasthan looked set for a commanding total. However, Tamil Nadu’s mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy changed the game with a five-wicket haul. Varun bowled Lomror to end his brisk knock before dismissing Deepak Hooda (7) and Tomar in quick succession, reducing Rajasthan to 209/4 in the 36th over. He completed his haul by taking the wickets of Ajay Singh and Khaleel Ahmed, finishing with figures of 5/52 in nine overs.
