NEW DELHI: Ever since becoming the youngest IPL crorepati, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been the centre of attention in cricketing circles. All eyes were on the 13-year-old during the U19 Asia Cup match against Pakistan in Dubai, but the young talent fell short of expectations, departing cheaply for 1.
Pakistan, batting first, posted a total of 281/7. Their openers, Usman Khan and Shahzaib Khan, delivered a blazing start with a 160-run partnership for the first wicket, highlighted by a brilliant century from Shahzaib.
During the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Suryavanshi was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore.
The 13-year-old was at the center of an intense bidding war during the IPL auction, with RR and Delhi Capitals battling fiercely to secure him. Ultimately, RR emerged victorious with a winning bid of Rs 1.1 crore.
Born on March 27, 2011, in Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the youngest player on the IPL roster. He made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024 at just 12 years and 284 days old. Last month, he showcased his talent in India U19’s match against Australia in Chennai, blasting a scintillating 58-ball century.
In his budding first-class career, Vaibhav has played five matches, scoring 100 runs with a highest score of 41. He is currently competing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
Vaibhav also represented Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, making his T20 debut against Rajasthan on November 23.
