When Virat Kohli scores his second run in Brisbane Test, he will...

Virat Kohli‘s return-to-form hundred in Perth followed another low-scoring effort (7 and 11) in Adelaide, bringing his inconsistency of late back in the frame. Still, though, records keep following the batting legend, with another one coming up for him in the third Test against Australia, beginning at the Gabba on December 14.
When Virat Kohli scores his second run in Brisbane, he will overtake Rahul Dravid‘s tally of Test runs against Australia. Dravid scored 2166 red-ball runs against the Aussies in 62 innings at an average of 38.67. Kohli’s total count currently stands at 2165 runs in 48 innings at an average of 47.06.

IND vs AUS: India batting has been a major cause of worry

Kohli ended his long wait for a Test century in the first match of this Border Gavaskar Trophy, scoring 100 not out in India’s second innings, which played a key role in the team’s 295-run victory. Besides Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal (161) also scored a century.
It was Kohli’s 30th Test hundred and 80th overall in international cricket.
Gill can surpass mentor Yuvraj
Shubman Gill missed the Perth Test because of a thumb injury but returned fit for Adelaide. However, despite doing all the hard work to settle in both the innings (31 and 28), the Yuvraj Singh-mentored batter failed to produce a big knock.
He would want to correct that mistake in Brisbane, which can also see him go past Yuvraj’s tally of career Test runs. With 1859 runs currently in 56 innings, Gill is just 42 runs away from surpassing Yuvraj’s 1900 runs in 62 innings.
Yuvraj, a white-ball icon and winner of the ODI as well as T20 World Cup, didn’t have a long Test career, which lasted only 40 matches.

How can India still qualify for World Test Championship final?

Pant set to eclipse Gavaskar’s record
India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant needs just five runs to go past Sunil Gavaskar‘s tally of Test runs at the Gabba. Gavaskar played only two innings at the venue, scoring 116 runs. Pant also has featured in just two innings at the stadium and scored 112 runs, which includes his 89 not out in India’s thrilling win in January 2021, which ended Australia’s unbeaten run at the Gabba since 1988.
Additionally, if Pant can score 64 runs in the Gabba Test, he will become India’s top scorer at the venue — going past ML Jaisimha’s tally of 175 runs.
