‘The Sabarmati Report’ which is based on the 2002 Godhra train burning incident, released on Friday, November 15 and had a decent opening of around Rs 1.25 crore. Since the film is meant for a niche audience and also released in only 600 screens. Hence, this number was decent. The good part was that it saw a growth on Saturday and Sunday.
The Sabarmati Report Movie Review
There was a growth of around 68 per cent on Saturday, and it made around Rs 2.1 crore. On Sunday, there was a further jump and it made Rs 3 crore. However, on the first Monday, it again saw a dip and made Rs 1.1 crore. The total collection of the movie so far is Rs 7.45crore.
The Monday test was crucial for the film and while it did see a dip which was quite expected, if the film continues to maintain this number on the coming days, due to positive word of mouth, it will be a good feat.
Meanwhile, the Diwali releases – ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ have continued to dominate at the box office. However, the collection of ‘Singham Again’ on Monday was even less than ‘The Sabarmati Report’ as it made only Rs 96 lakhs. The total collection of the movie is Rs 231.86 crore.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ made Rs 1.65 crore on Monday and the total collection so far in India is Rs 233.05 crore. As both these films are slowly nearing towards the end of their run, if there’s word of mouth, ‘The Sabarmati Report’ may slowly see a decent number in the coming days.
